Answer: (b) 20%

Marked price is Rs 680 . Maked Price after first discount is Rs 510 . Discount = 102 . Hence - Option "B" is the answer.

Marked price =Rs 720.

1st discount = x% of Rs 720 = Rs 7.2 x

Amount payable = Rs(720- 7.2x).

2nd discount = x % of Rs (720–7.2x)= x.(720–7.2x)/100 , acordingly:-

7.2x +x.(720–7.2x)/100= 259.2. , Multiplying by 1000 both sides.

7200.x+10x.(720–7.2x)= 259200

or. 7200x+7200x-72x^2=259200

or. -72 x^2+14400x=259200. , dividing both sides by -72.

or. x^2 -200.x+3600 =0

or. (x-180).(x-20)=0

x=180 %(not valid ). , 20 % .

x=20 %. Answer.
