Atal Behari Vajpayee was born on 25th December, 1924 (according to his certificate it is 1926) at Shinde Cantt in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Vajpayee is the beloved son of Shri Krishan Behari Bajpayee and Smt. Krishna Devi. While he was just a student, he aligned himself to the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (R.S.S.) and later become its “Pracharak”. He is the founder member of the ‘Jansangh” then political party founded by R.S.S. After entering the politics of the country, he climbed up step by step and now he is the spotless meticulous statesman of the Indian politics.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee born on 25 December 1924, recently passed away on 16th August 2018, this year.

He was an Indian politician who served as the Prime Minister of India, 3 times.

His first tenure started in 1996 which lasted for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally, for a full term from 1999 to 2004.

He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the first Indian prime minister who was not a member of the Indian National Congress party to have served a full five-year term in office.

Being a member of the Indian Parliament for over four decades, he had been elected to the Lok Sabha and Rajha Sabha multiple times.

He served as the Member of Parliament for Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh until 2009 when he retired from active politics due to health concerns.

Later he served as the President as well.

His works included the Pokhran-II nuclear testing carried out in 1998. Followed by an attempt to improve the diplomatic relations with Pakistan, via meetings with former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif and Musharraf. To meet Nawaz Sharif he came to Lahore and invited Musharraf at an Agra Summit in 1999.

In 2015, he was awarded as India's highest honor, i.e. " Bharat Ratna".
