Smoking refers to the practice in which a substance, mostly tobacco, is burned and the smoke is tasted or inhaled. Smoking is an addiction and a very bad habit. It is a waste of energy and money. Some people smoke tobacco, weed, marijuana, cigar etc. It is very harmful and injurious to health. Its effects are dangerous. One can lose one’s facial color. It is the enemy of our lungs. It creates big health hazards. It can cause tuberculosis or heart failure. It may also lead to high blood pressure, sore throat, nausea or whooping cough. We do not care to read the warning given in the cigarette packet. It warns us to not to smoke even then we do the same. There are a large number of other diseases which are caused by cigarette smoking like stroke, mouth and throat cancer, ulcer, cardio-vascular diseases etc. Smokers push themselves to death. Smoking the harmful tobacco which is full of different carcinogenic chemicals can be extremely dangerous. It contains Nicotine which is an addictive drug and it can cause various fatal diseases. Doing smoking is indirectly smoking diseases. Smoking can weaken the bones and can cause yellow teeth. It also reduces the stamina because of decreased blood circulation leading to rapid heartbeat and shortage of breath. Bad smells also starts coming from the mouth with the passage of time. The biggest precarious factor in case of smoking is that not only chain smokers are affected but also passive smokers have to suffer a lot. Passive smokers are the people who do not smoke but are around people who smoke. They have the same increased health risks as smokers such as stroke, cancer, ulcer, headaches, nausea, allergic attacks, asthma etc. Smoking in public places is considered a punishable offence under law. It is ban in educational and institutions and offices now days. These days, the younger people especially the youths and the teenagers get into the trap of such addictions just because for fun or to showoff. Some get such habits from their friends, college mates or colleagues or out of curiosity, because others were doing it. But later, they get addicted to such problems, that it becomes difficult for them to escape from it. It is quite difficult to leave the habit of smoking but not impossible. It is very correctly said : “Where there is a will, there is a way”. It is very necessary to stop smoking. There can not be more reasons to quit smoking. It is quite difficult to quit smoking but once a person makes his will power strong to leave and quit such practices, may be it takes time but he can achieve his aim soon and without any repetition. There is a very strong need to make up the mind to quit such habit and then slowly, day by day, try to decrease the number of cigarettes smoke per day. Keep yourself busy in other work so that you do not get time to smoke. Make smoking inconvenient and unpleasant. Take proper rest. Take oral substitutes, fruits such as apples, carrots, or chew sugarless gum in place of cigarettes. Drink lots of water. Start doing exercises and yoga. Do not let anyone to smoke in front of you. Ask for support from family and from your friend circle. Taking small steps and continuing things against smoking will definitely help. Smoking is harmful and dangerous. It should be avoided.
