I believe punishment is the best way to change behaviour. But the intensity of punishment is important. If students are exposed to humiliating punishment they become spiteful. Instead, if they are asked to do certain chores for the entire week or plant a sapling, they will realise their mistake and be involved in productive activities. The person should be given an opportunity to realise his mistakes and correct them. In case the person repeats the mistakes then punishment is a right choice.
