The process of progress usually takes a heavy toll on the environment. Owing to man’s greed and short-sightedness, irreparable damage to the environment is done. As has happened in most of countries, in a bid to push the country farther on the path of progress, natural resources have been sacrificed.  Problems such as Global warming, melting glaciers, decreasing forest covers, dwindling species of plants and animals, depleting ozone layer, etc. loom large on the future of mankind mainly because of man’s foolish pursuit of progress.

 

The wisest approach is progress without damaging the environmental purity and beauty. This type of progress is viable, but it requires awareness and scientific approach. The people of a country and the Government must make environment their first priority. All the environmental laws should be strictly and honestly implemented and the offenders should be brought to justice.

 

In conclusion it can be said that environment should not be compromised. Progress by damaging environment is hollow and meaningless.

The constructive thought of progress gives rise to the destructive idea of harming the environment we live in. The short-sightedness and greed of men has led to the irreparable damage of Mother Nature. Over the years, many countries sacrificed their natural resources to compete among themselves for the title of the most progressed nation! But what has this unearthed? - Global warming, decreasing of forest lands, melting of glaciers, dwindling species of flora and fauna, a depleting ozone layer, reduction of water resources and the list goes on. The future seems to be doomed due to man’s witless pursuit of progress.

In the 21st century, the way of living is different. Technology is booming and people are grasping every new thing coming in. Checking the progress of any nation isn’t necessary if the wisest approach is applied - progress without damaging the purity and beauty of the environment. This type of progress is acceptable. But it requires awareness and scientific approach. Making environment the first priority is the first step towards true progress. Every country must strictly follow all the environmental laws and honestly implement them. Those who break the laws must be brought to justice so that another doesn’t repeat the same doing.

Compromising the environment is ultimately compromising your own existence. The progress made by a nation on the ruins of the environment is hollow and futile.
