Answer:

Explanation:

Given :-

Radius of circular orbit, r = 42250 km

Time taken, t = 24 hours

To Find :-

Speed

Formula to be used :-

Speed = Distance/Time

Circumference = 2πr

Solution :-

Putting all the values, we get

Circumference = 2πr

⇒ Circumference = 2 × 22/7 × 42250

⇒ Circumference = 465571.4 km

Now, Speed

Speed = Distance/Time

⇒ Speed = 465571.4/24

⇒ Speed = 11065.4 km/h

We will now convert it in m/s

= 11065.4 × 5/18

= 3070.9444 m/s

Now to km/h

= 3070.9444/1000

= 3.070 km/s

Hence, the speed is 3.070 km/s.

QUESTION -

An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 42250 km. Calculate its speed if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth.

GIVEN -

Radius of the circular orbit of along which the satellite is moving → 42250 km

Distance covered by the satellite in →24 hours

TO FIND -

speed

SOLUTION -

Distance travelled by satellite in one revolution

→ 2 × π × r

→ 2πr

→2 × 3.14 × 42250 = 265464.58 km

Therefore speed of satellite,

speed = time taken / distance travelled

→ 24 × 60 × 60 / 265464.58

3.07 km s −1

so , speed 3.07 km s −1
