Given :

• Radius of the artificial satellite = 42250 km

• Time taken = 24 hours

To Find :

• The speed of the satellite to revolve around the earth.

Solution :

The speed of an object moving in a circular path is given by the formula :

 \star \:  \sf \: v =  \dfrac{2 \: \pi \: r}{t}

We've to find the value of v, the value of r is given and we know the value of pi, π is \sf\frac{22}{7}

Putting the values in the above formula, we get :

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =  \dfrac{2  \times  22 \times 42250  \: }{7 \times 24}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =  \cancel \dfrac{1859000 }{168}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =11065.4 \: km \:  {h}^{ - 1}

We can convert this speed into m/s from km/hr by dividing it by the number of seconds in 1 hour i.e. (60×60 s)

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =  \dfrac{11065.4}{60 \times 60} \:  km \:  {s}^{ - 1}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =  \cancel \dfrac{11065.4}{3600} \:  km \:  {s}^{ - 1}

 \sf \longrightarrow \: v =  3.07 \:  km \:  {s}^{ - 1}

\therefore The speed of the satellite to revolve around the earth is 3.07 km/s.

Answer:

✬Question:-

An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 42240 km. Calculate its speed if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth.

---------------------------------------------------

Answer:-

Distance covered by the satellite in 24 hoursS = 2πr

= 2 × 3.14 × 42240

= 265267.2

✿ Therefore speed of satellite,

v \:  =  \frac{distance \: travelled}{time \: taken \: }

 =  \frac{265267.2}{ 24 \times 60 \times 60}

 = 3.07kms ^{ - 1}
