Answer :

  • Speed of the artificial satellite which is moving in a circular radius of 4907 km in 22 hours is 1402 km/h.

Explanation :

Given :

  • Radius of the circular orbit, s = 4907 km.
  • Time taken to revolve around the orbit, t = 22 hrs.

To find :

  • Speed of the artificial satellite, v = ?

Knowledge required :

Since the satellite is moving around the planet, the distance covered by it will be the circumference of the orbit (circular).

Formula for circumference of a circle :

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀C = 2πr

Where,

  • C = Circumference of the circle.
  • r = Radius of the circle.

Now to find the speed of the particle, we need the formula for speed i.e,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀v = s/t

Where,

  • v = speed of the body.
  • s = Distance traveled by the body.
  • t = Time Taken by the body.

Solution :

First let us find the distance covered by the artificial satellite.

By using the formula for circumference of a circle and substituting the values in it, we get :

⠀⠀=> C = 2πr

⠀⠀=> C = 2 × 22/7 × 4907

⠀⠀=> C = 30844

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀∴ C = 30844 km

Now let's find out the speed of the satellite.

By using the formula for speed of a body and substituting the values in it, we get :

⠀⠀=> v = s/t

⠀⠀=> v = 30884/22

⠀⠀=> v = 1402

⠀⠀⠀⠀∴ v = 1402 km/h

Therefore,

  • Speed of the artificial satellite, v = 1402 km/h.
