distance covered by the thing = 200m
total time= 40sec +2min 20sec
1min=60sec
so, 40sec+120sec+20sec=180sec
speed=ditance/time
200/180 =10/9

Hey mate!!
Here is the answer
Given,
Total time= 2min 20sec
Since 1min=60sec
Therefore, 2min 20sec=(2×60)+20
=120+20
=140sec
& the diameter of track=200m
therefore radius = 200/2
=100m
according to question,
In 40 sec, the number of rounds completed =1round
Therefore, in 1 sec, the number of rounds completed=1/40
So, in 140 sec the number of rounds completed=1/40×140
=14/4
= 3.5rounds
Now, distance covered in 1 rounds =circumference of the circular track
=2×22/7×100
=4400/7
=628.57m
Therefore, distance covered in 3.5 rounds =628.57×35
=2200m
Now,
Since the athlete completed 3.5 rounds of the circular track, so in the 3 complete rounds, displacement will be 0 but after completing the other half round he reached the half of the circular track which is equal to the diameter. So the displacement will be 200m
