Given,diameter(d)=200m

and time taken by the athlete to complete one round =40s Therefore, distance of the circular track =Circumference of the

track=πd

=π200m

Therefore, Speed of the athlete =distance of the track/time taken to complete one round

=π200/40=π5m/s

Now, at the end of 2minutes and 20 seconds, that is, 140seconds,

the total distance covered by the athlete=Speed ×time

=π5×140

=22/7×5×140

=22×5×20(Since 140/7=20)

=2200m

and the displacement=Final position - initial position

=π100 - 0

=π100

=3.14×100

=314m
