Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

So the athlete covers 40 m distance in 12 sec .

So the speed of the athlete is  40m/12 sec = 3.33 m/s

Finding the distance first.

Dist. = Speed X time = 3.33 X 54 = 179.82 metres

but it is sure that the displacement is different

So if athlete cover 1 round (40 m) in 12 sec so so he/she is sure to cover 4 rounds in 48 seconds .....(Try and see once please)

Now the displacement in 4 rounds is 0 m and we have to find the displacement in 54 sec

therefore time left = 54 - 48 = 6 sec

now we know the speed is constant 3.33 m/s

dist. in 6 sec= 3.33 m/s X 6 = 20 m

but one round is of 40 m

therefore athlete covers half the round so the displacement is the length of Diametre.....!!!!

Circumference of circle = π.D = 3.14 X D

40 m = 3.14 D

therefore, D= 40/3.14 = 12.73 m

So the distance and displacement covered in the end of the 54 sec is 179.82 m and 12.73 m respectively.

Hope this helps you Friend..!
