Given :-

Diameter of circular track = 200 m

Time taken to complete one round = 40 seconds

To find :-

Displacement

Solution :-

Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial point and the final point.

Now, the athlete completes one round in 40 seconds, i.e., the athlete covers some distance in 40 seconds.

But, the displacement of the athlete would be 0 m after 40 seconds. It is so because, after 40 seconds, the athlete would have completed one round and would be again at the starting point. So, the athlete would have not displaced at all.

The displacement is the length between the initial and final points. Here, the initial and the final point sare the same. So, the displacement would be zero.

Displacement after 40 seconds = 0 m

Now, we know, the athlete completes 1 round every 40 seconds. So, after every 40 seconds, the displacement would be zero.

Displacement after:-

40 seconds - 0 m

80 seconds - 0 m

120 seconds- 0 m

160 seconds - 0 m

200 seconds - 0 m

We have been asked to find the magnitude displacement of the athlete after 3 minutes 20 seconds.

3 minutes 20 seconds = 200 seconds

Therefore, the athlete would have not displaced at the end of 3 minutes and 20 seconds, i.e., displacement = 0 m.
