Question :

an athlete completes one round of a circular track of diameter 200m in 40s . what will be the displacement at the 2min 20sec.

Given :

Diameter of circular track = 200 m

Time taken for one round = 40 s

To Find :

Displacement in 2 min 20 s

Formula :

v = \tt \frac{s}{t}

where,

v : velocity

s : displacement

t : time

Solution :

2 min 20 s = 2 × 60 + 20

 \tt \implies 2 min 20 s = 120 + 20

 \tt \implies 2 min 20 s = 140 s

In 140 s athlete will complete 3 complete rounds around the circle.

So now 20 s are left.

In 20 s the althlete will be at exactly opposite point on the circle.

We know that minimum displacement will be it's diameter.

Displacement will be 200m.
