Suppose the athlete starts from point A

Total time taken by athlete to run = 2 min 20 sec

= 140 s

Total circular rounds taken by him

= 140/40 = 3.5

The athlete completes 3 and 1/2 circular rounds in 2 min 20 s

He will reach At point B after the last 1/2 round i.e, and the displacement is exactly equal to the diameter of the circular path

Displacement covered by him after 2 min 20 sec is 2R
