1) Radius of circular running track = 200m

Distance/ Circumference of the circular running track = 2πr = 2 × 22/7 × 200 = 2 × 3.14 × 200 = 6.28 × 200 = 1256m

Time taken to cover the circular running track = 1minute 40 seconds = 60 seconds + 40 seconds = 100 seconds

Speed of the athlete = Distance Covered/Time taken

= 1256/100

= 12.56 m/s

So, Speed of the athlete = 12.56 m/s

2) Time = 10 minutes = 10 × 60 = 600 seconds

Speed of the athlete = 12.56 m/s

Since Speed = Distance/Time

=> Distance = Speed × Time

Distance covered by an athlete in 10 minutes = 12.56 × 600 = 7536m
