The distance travalled is 942 meters and displacment is 0.

GIVEN

An athlete covers 3 rounds on a circular track of radius 50 m.

TO FIND

Calculate the total distance and displacement travelled by him.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We are given,

Radius of the circular track = 50 meter.

Number of rounds of covered by athlete = 3

Distance = Measure of the total path travelled by the object.

Distance = 3 × Circumference of the circular track.

= 3 × 2πr

= 6 × 3.14 × 50

= 942 meters

Displacement = Shortest distance between the inital and final distance.

Since in 3 rounds the athelet covers the complete circumference of the track 3 times therefore, he comes back to its initial position in the end.

Therefore,

Displacement = 0

Hence, The distance travalled is 942 meters and displacment is 0.
