The range covered by him in above jump is 7.8 m.

An athlete jumps at an angle of 30° with the maximum speed of 9.4 m/s.

We have to find the range covered by him in above jump.

This question is based on projectile motion.

We know the Horizontal range is given by, R = u²sin2Ф/g,

  • v is initial velocity
  • g is acceleration due to gravity
  • Ф is angle of projection with horizontal direction.

Here,

v = 9.4 m/s

g = 9.8 m/s²

Ф = 30°

∴ R = (9.4²sin60°)/(9.8)  m

= (9.4 × 9.4 × 0.866)/(9.8)  m

= 7.8 m

Therefore the range covered by him in above jump is 7.8 m.
