An athlete running with uniform speed along circular track of radius 42 m completes one round
in 40 s. Calculate average speed and average velocity in time interval of (1) 0-10 sec
(ii) 0-20 sec (iii) 0-40 sec.​

circumference of circle=2  

= 2*22/7*42

= 44*6

= 264m

now, speed= 264/40= 6.6m/s

1) Average speed between 0-10 sec= 264/4

= 66/10= 6.6m/s

&,, displacement ≈ 60m [using Pythagoras theorm)

so, velocity= 60/ 10=6m/s

2) Average speed between= 0-20 sec. =

264/2

= 132/20= 6.6m/s

& Average velocity= 84/20= 4.2 m/s

3) Average speed between 0-40 sec.

= 264/40= 6.6m/s

& Average velocity= 0/40= 0m/s
