As in the both cases the direction is same i.e. on the same straight line so in both cases the total displacement is added .
Therefore, Average speed = total displacement/ total time = {S(1) + S(2)}÷ {t(1) + t(2)} = Average velocity
= 1600 m ÷ 3 minutes
= 533.34 m/minute
= 8.89 m/s
