Solution :-

given that,

→ S1 = 5 m/s

→ T1 = 40 seconds .

so,

→ D1 = S1 * T1 = 5 * 40 = 200 m (In clockwise direction)

and,

→ S2 = 3 m/s

→ T2= 100 seconds .

so,

→ D2 = S2 * T2 = 3 * 100 = 300 m . (In anti clockwise direction) .

then,

→ The displacement of the runner from the starting point = + 200 + (-300) = 200 - 300 = (-100) = 100 m (In anti clockwise direction) .

therefore, required displacement is 100 m .
