Answer:

d=200m

r=d/2=100m

∴Circumference=2πr

given,the athletic completes 1 round of d=200m  in 40 s.

⇒40 s=200πm

∴1 s=200π/40m

∵2 min 40 s =140 s

∴140 s =200×22×140/40×7

=2198m

∴distace =2198m

and displacement =200m

ankitaraj64504: yes
ankitaraj64504: since displacement is the shortest distace .So, when the athletic completes 2198m he covers 2 and half round of the circular track. Therefore, the displacement will be the diameter i.e 200 m

AnuragSonowal: hey can u help me with a question
ankitaraj64504: ok
AnuragSonowal: what is inertia and momentum
ankitaraj64504: the tentency of an object to resist any change on it's state of rest or uniform motion is called inertia.
AnuragSonowal: and what is momentum
ankitaraj64504: momentum is the product of mass and velocity
AnuragSonowal: tq

[Refer to the attached photos.]

◑ The distance covered by an athlete is 2200 m and the displacement at the end of 2 minutes 20 seconds is 200 m.

Additional Information :

※ The distance travelled by an object is the length of the actual path traversed by the object during motion.

※ The displacement of an object in the motion is the shortest distance between the initial position and final position of the object.

※ Distance is a scalar quantity.

※ Displacement is a vector quantity.
