Answer:

Distance - 2200 m

Displacement - 200m

Explanation:

Circumference of the track = 2πr

Here r = 200/2 = 100

So, Circumference = 4400/7

4400/7 m is covered in 40 s

So, In 140 s, Distance = (4400/7) × 3.5 [ 3.5 because the time taken is 120 + 20, i.e, 3.5 × 40 ]

so, Distance = 2200 m

Displacement = Shortest path = 200 m [ Distance on last 20 seconds. 200 m because required distance is the diameter... as in 20 s, half of the circle is covered ]

Answer:

radius = 100

circumference = 2×22/7×100

2×22/7×100 meter in 40 s

therefore in 2 minutes 20 second

distance=2×22/7×100×2minutes 20 second/40second

distance =2 × 22/7 ×100 × 140

distance = 88000 meter

NOW DISPLACEMENT

In 140seconds(2 minutes 20seconds)

no. of complete revolutions = 140/40 =3.5(I.e. 3 complete revolutions and one half revolution)

therefore current position of athlete

=half of the circle

now displacement =diameter

=200m
