In the electronic arrangement in an atom of an element, the first shell always contain 2 electrons. The second shell always contain 8 electrons. In the element M, it is said that it has 2 electrons in the outermost shell. Thus the electronic configuration will be [2,8,2]. In total the element has 12 electrons, and that element's name is Magnesium

Solution :

➲ Since there are 2 electrons in M shell, the K shell and L shell must be completely filled with electrons.

➲ The maximum number of electrons K shell can hold is 2 that ofL shell is 8 and we know that M shell has 2 electrons.

➲ So, the total number of electrons are 2 +8 + 2 = 12.

➲ Now, we know that the total number of electrons in a neutral atom is equal to the number of protons,

➲ So, the atomic number of this element is 12.

&#9760
#&#8492&#120007&#119990&#119998&#120003&#120001&#120014&#8475&#119990&#119990&#120015
&#128526
