Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Element name = Magnesium (Mg)

Valency of element = +2

● Explanation -

Element with atomic number 12 is Magnesium (Mg). Electronic configuration of magnesium is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2. It has 2 e- in its outermost orbit and can donate these to form a stable octet. Hence, its valency is +2.

Thanks dear. Hope this is helpful to you...

The name of the element is magnesium (Mg)

Explanation:

If the atomic number is 12 then,

        K orbit will contain=2 electrons

        L orbit will  contain=8 electrons.

        M orbit will contain=2 electrons.

Thus the valency of magnesium will be 2 as we know that the number of electron that occupy the last orbit is called the valency of that element.
