Answer :-

(i) Number of protons = 29

(ii) 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p⁶ 3d¹⁰ 4s¹

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Number of electrons = 29

→ Number of Neutrons = 35

______________________________

For a given element, we have :-

No of electrons = No of protons

So, 29 protons are there in the atom of the element.

______________________________

As number of protons are 29, so the atomic number of the element is 29. Also it's mass number is = 35 + 29 = 64 .

Thus, the element is Copper .

We know that, the actual electronic configuration of Copper is different from expected configuration as to acquire more stability, one of the 4s electron goes to 3d orbitals so that 3d orbitals get completely filled .

Thus, electronic configuration will be :-

= 1s² 2s² 2p 3s² 3p 3d¹ 4s¹

Given :-

An atom of an element contains 29 electrons and 35 neutrons.

To Find :-

(i) number of protons

(ii) electronic configuration

Solution :-

(i) Number of protons

No. of protons = No. of electron

No. of protons = 29

(ii) electronic configuration

Electronic configuration of the element

1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 4s¹ 3d¹⁰

Or,

[Ar] 3d¹⁰4s¹

Know More :-

No. of proton = Atomic number of the element

No. of proton = 29

Hence, The atomic number is 29

The element is Copper

The Symbol of copper is Cu
