Given that,

An atom of an element X has 2 electrons in its N shell.

To find,

From (i) to (v).

Solution,

In this problem, it is mentioned that element has 2 electrons in its N shell. It means that N is the outermost shell.

Shell                         :   K, L, M, N

Electrons in the shell : 2, 8, 18, 32

(i) The electronic configuration of x is :

2,8,18,2

Its atomic no is : 2+8+18+2 = 30

(ii) Zinc has atomic no 30. So, it is a metal.

(iii) No of protons = atomic no = 30

(iv) Zinc forms zinc chloride i.e. ZnCl₂

(v) It lies in the D-block of the periodic table at 12th group and 4th period.
