The element has 2 electrons in K shell and 4 electrons in L shell....
So atomic number(Z) = sum of total electrons or protons....
So Z = 2+4=6....
Now the Element with Z=6 is "CARBON"..
and its configuration is 2,4 or 1s^2 2s^2 2p^2....
