18 electrons. (2 in the first, 8 in the second, 8 in the third).

Poppins: but the third one has the capacity of 18 then why only 8 in the third shell
QwertyZoom: Unless there is a fourth shell which also has 8 electrons, the third shell does not hold 18 electrons.
