Electronic configuration 2 ,8,2 its valency is +2 it is considerd as metal because it donate two electrons to complete its octet .Chlorine is non metal because it gains 1 elctrons from other to complete its octet.L shell of mg has 8 electrons not 10 because k shell as ability to hold only 8 electons . its had 13 Neutrons . hope it help you
