An atom X has 2 electronsmore in valence shell than its nearest noble gas.It forms a compound XY2 with another atom Y. i) Predict the valency of X with reason. ii)Mention the nature of bond present in XY2 and justify your answer​

(1) valency of x will be 2 because every atom or molecule want to be in a stable state / stable electronic configuration which is noble gas configuration. After loosing 2 e it attains noble gas configuration. That's why the valency is 2

(2) nature of bond will be ionic bond/ electrostatic bond. because for stability it have to loose e. it don't have to share electron. If it shares electron then it will be covalent. but here the electron is completely transfered to another atom. That's why the bond will be ionic.
