Given an atom 'X' with

(Z) = 16 ; (A) = 32

  1. Electronic Configuration = 2,8,6
  2. Number of Valence Electron = 6
  3. See, Valency of such atom is (-2) I.e it requires 2 e- to complete its octate so it's a Non-Metal

Hopefully you'll understand
