An atomic orbital has n = 2. What are the possible values of l and m1 ? (ii) List the quantum numbers (m1 and l) of electrons for 3d orbital. (iii) Which of the following orbitals are possible ? 2d, 1s, 2p and 3f. pls help!

Note :

For n=1 only 1 s exist

For n= 2 only 2s exists

For n= 3 only 3s ,3p,3d exist

For n= 4 only 4 s ,4p , 4 d ,4f exist

For n=5 only 5s, 5 p , 5 d ,5 f ,5g exists

values of l

s-0

p-1

d-2

f-3

g- 4

if value of l is 3 (for eg) then value of m can be any no between (+3 to - 3)

(1)for n=2 only 2 s exists

value of l for s orbital is 0

value of m will also be zero

(2)In ,3 d

n=3

value of l for d is 2

the value of m varies between +2 to -2

(3)Among 2 d 1 s 2 p and 3 f only 1 s exists
