An auto charges Rs.15 for first kilometer and Rs.8 each for each subsequent kilometer. For a distance of ‘x’ km. an amount of Rs.‘y’ is paid. Write the linear equation representing this information and draw the graph. With the help of graph find the distance travelled if the fare paid is Rs.55? How much would have to be paid for 7 kilometers?

Answer:

Y = 8x + 7

6 km distance travelled if fare paid is Rs.55

Rs 63 to be paid for 7 km

Step-by-step explanation:

auto charges Rs.15 for first kilometer

Rs.8 each for each subsequent kilometer

For a distance of ‘x’ km.

1 st km is charged at Rs 15  & x-1 km charged at Rs 8 per km

Y = charges

Y = 15 + 8 * (x - 1)

Y = 15 + 8x - 8

Y = 8x + 7

Y = 55

55 = 8X + 7

=> 8X = 48

=> X = 6 km

6 km distance travelled if fare paid is Rs.55

X = 7

Y = 8*7 + 7

Y = 63 Rs

Rs 63 to be paid for 7 km
