SOLUTION
We can simply solve the above problem as follows;
Cost for first kilometer = birr 5
Cost for next 3 kilometer = birr 4
Distance left = 10-(1+3) = 10 - 4 = 6 km
Cost for each of subsequent kilometer = birr 9
Cost for remaining 6 km = 9 × 6 = birr 54
Average Cost of auto ride = Total cost/total kilometer.
= 54+6+4/10
= 64/10
= 6.4
