Let the fixed amount for every kilometer be x.

total distance travelled = 10 km

and total amount taken = 85

Remove 2 km and 25 rupees since they don't concern the fixed amount

So fixed amount of 60 rupees was charged for 8km.

8km = 60 = 8x

x = 60/8

  = 7.5

The fixed amount charged for every kilometer after 2 kilometers is 7.5 rupees.

Answer:

First 2km= Rs. 25

Total distance = 10 km

Total fare = Rs. 85

Each km = Rs. 7.5 (ans)

Step-by-step explanation:

let per km charge = x

now

10-2 × x = Rs. 85-25

8x = 60

x = 60/8

x= Rs. 7.5
