An crane engine produces 300 kJ of work to lift up a 500 kg mass. How high was the crane able to lift up the mass?

1) Work done = 300 kJ

2) mass = 500 kg

To find :

i) Height of the mass lifted up by the crane

Solution :

We know that,

Work done, W = Force × Distance

where force = mass × accelaration due to gravity = m×g and distance = h

Work done, W = m×g×h

300 kJ = 500 kg × 10 × h

300×10^3 J = 500×10^3 × 10 × h

h = 300 / 5000

h = 3 / 50

h = 0.06 m
