Worms have little microscopic hairs on their bodies that aid them in locomotion. Glass is an extremely smooth surface in comparison to what worms usually crawl on/in. The glass may also be dry, in which the worm will lose moisture and end up sticking to the glass then dying because it cannot move anymore.

Hope it helps
