An easy essay on my favourite subject english in easy words
Answers
As a young boy, I loved the subject English. English is made up of oral English, parts of speech, composition, lexis and structure, grammar, and spelling.
In oral English, I learned how to pronounce words that I had difficulty with. For example, I used to pronounce the word pneumatic with a p, upon learning in oral English that the letter p is actually silent. The same goes for pneumonia as well. I also learned about monophthongs and diphthongs. Monophthongs are two vowels that represent a single sound an example is /oa/ in boat, while diphthongs are two vowels when combined to form a single syllable make a sound. For example, /ae/ in coin.
In parts of speech I learned that they were eight in number, and they consist of: verb, noun, adjective, adverb, pronoun, conjunction, interjection, and preposition.
In composition and essay writing, I learned where, and how to place punctuation marks. I also learned mechanical accuracy, a term used in English to determine whether verbs followed the antecedent, lack of punctuation errors, the amount of words used in an essay. I learned homophones and homonyms. Homophones are words that have the same spellings, but different meanings. For example, fluke this means a type of fish, and a bad stroke of luck while homonyms are words that have the same pronunciations but different meanings. For example, the words stalk and stalk have different meanings, the first one is a part of a plant while the other means to harass a person.
In lexis and structure, this is a part in English that deals with antonyms in using a sentence format by finding the word most nearly opposite in meaning (antonyms).
In grammar, I learned the difference between clauses and phrases. This includes: adjectival, noun, and adverbial clauses. I also learned about comma splices, which are sentences that have no punctuation. It can be corrected in three ways:by putting the right punctuation, by placing a coordinating conjunction between both sentences, and placing a comma, and coordinating conjunction between the sentences.
In spelling, I learned how to spell words, look up new words, find their meanings, and give both synonyms and antonyms. I enjoyed this tremendously because it gave me understanding when I began reading novels.
English helped me grow as an individual by developing my literary skills. As a bibliophile, I enjoy English because with the subject, I learn something new everyday. It also helped me to choose a career path on to becoming a novelist and screenwriter.
English is my favourite subject for many reasons. The first reason is i get to read many interesting and thrilling stories of fiction and real life events. They entertain me and inspire me. For example, i just winder at times how much fun would i have missed if i would not read the harry potter series. The second reason is english is the language of the world now. All the communication, intetaction, advertisments, etc are predominatly in english language.
