An echo was heard after 3s what is the distance of the reflecting surface from the source. Give that speed in 342m^ s.

speed =distance /time
distance =speed *time
d=v*t
d=342*3
d=1026
the distance is travelled by eco so 1026/2=513

Speed of sound, 
                             V = 342ms-^1 

Time taken for listening the echo,
                                                      t = 3s

Distance travelled by the sound
                                                  = V x t
                                                  = 342ms-^1 x 3s
                                                  = 1026 m 

In 3 s sound has to travel twice the distance between the reflecting surface and the person.

Therefore the distance between the reflecting surface and the person 
                     = 1026 m / 2
                    = 513 m.
