An ecosystem has mice. What happens if more cats are added to it

mice is an herbivore and cat is a carnivore as we are increasing the number of cats(carnivore) the population of mice will decrease as the mice feed on plants herbs their population will certainly increase due to which an imbalance is created in ecosystem
