An effort of 500 N is applied through a distance of 50 cm on a machine, whose efficiency is 90%, such that resistance is overcome through a distance of 40 cm. Calculate i) V.R. ii) M.A. and iii) load overcome by the machine.

WE KNOW THAT

M.A =effort arm ÷load arm

=50÷40=1.25

V.R =MA÷eta

1.25÷90%

VR.=1.38

MA=load÷effort

load =MA×effort

=1.25×500=625
