The density of salt water is more than that of fresh water which results in more buoyancy. This is the reason , why the egg floats in salt water but sinks in fresh water.

Answer:

A egg sinks in freshwater because the egg is more dense than the water it displaces. Adding salt to the water increases the density of the water. Add enough salt and the density of salty water exceeds the density of the egg,so it floats.
