Given :  50000 enrolled voters did not cast their votes and only 80% of cast voters were valid  .winning candidate won by 1 0080 votes,

To find :  the total number of enrolled voters

Solution:

Let say Enrolled Voters  = 10000V

Votes Casted = 10000V - 50000

= 10000(V - 5)

Valid Votes = (80/100)  10000(V - 5)  = 8000(V - 5)

losing candidate got 18% of the total valid votes = (18/100)8000(V - 5)

= 1440(V - 5)

26% of the enrolled voters vote nota

Nota Votes = (26/100) 10000V  = 2600V

Winning Candidate Votes   =   Valid Votes - losing candidate - NOTA

= 8000(V - 5) -  1440(V - 5) -  2600V

=  6560(V - 5) -  2600V

winning candidate won by 1 0080 votes

=> winning candidate votes - loosing candidate votes = 10080

6560(V - 5) -  2600V - 1440(V - 5) = 10080

=> 5120(V - 5) - 2600V = 10080

=> 512(V - 5) - 260V = 1008

=>252V  = 1008 + 2560

=> 252V = 3568

=> V = 14.15873

=> 10000V = 1415873

total number of enrolled voters 1415873
