Vote percentage of the winning candidate =70%
Number of majoroty votes the first candidate had =16000
Vote percentage of the loosing candidate=30%
Let the total number of votes be x
=>70% of x-30% of x=16000
=>70x/100-30x/100=16000
=>40x/100=16000
=>x=16000×100/40
=>x=40000
Total number of votes=40000.(ans)
