An electric bulb glows but the main wire does not.give reason

because main wire don't have much resistance .

Hey There! Things glow when they are heated up and in this case the amount of heat released by a material would depend upon its resistance. This is in accordance with Joule's heating law. Now, the resistance of the bulb filament is greater than that of the wire and thus will be heated up to a greater degree compared. So, the bulb will glow while the wire will not.
