Given: the power of the electric bulb, P = 100W

           the voltage of electric bulb, V = 220V

To Find: the current through the electric bulb, I.

Solution:

To calculate I, the formula used:

  • Power = voltage x current
  • It can also be written as -

        P = V x I

        V = P / I

        I = P / V

Applying the above formula:

P = V x I

100 = 220 x I

100 / 220 = I

10 / 22 = I

I = 10 / 22

 = 0.45

I = 0.45 A

Hence the magnitude of current through the electric bulb is 0.45 amperes.
