Explanation:

a) We know that power=voltage²/resistance

P = V²/R

1500 = 62500/R

R = 625/15 = 125/3 = 41.67 ohms.

b) V = IR

I = V/R

I = 250×3/125

I = 6 ampere.

c) Power = Energy/ Time

E = Power×Time

E = 1500 × 10×60

E = 90000 joules.

Given : An electric heater is rated 1500 watt - 250 volt.

To find : (a) resistance of electric heater

(b) flow of current through it at 250 volts.

(c) released heat energy in 10 minutes.

solution : (a) resistance, R = V²/P

where V is voltage and P is power of electric heater.

here V = 250 volts , P = 1500 watt

so, R = (250)²/1500 = 625/15 = 41.67 Ω

Therefore the resistance of electric heater is 41.67 Ω.

(b) using formula, P = Vi

⇒i = P/V = 1500/250 = 6A

current flows through it is 6A.

(c) heat energy released in 10 minutes, E = P × t

= 1500 watt × 10 × 60 sec

= 1500 × 600

= 90 × 10⁴ J

= 900 kJ
