Given :

Current, I = 1.5A

potential difference, V = 220V

time, t = 1min = 60sec

To find :

charge flowing through the electric iron

Solution :

If a charge of Q coulombs flows through a conductor in time t second, then the magnitude I of the electric current flowing through it is given by,

  • I = Q/t

here,

I denotes current

Q denotes charge

t denotes time

by substituting all the given values in the formula,

I = Q/t

➠ 1.5 = Q/60

➠ Q = 1.5 × 60

➠ Q = 90C{.}

thus,charge flowing through the electric iron is 90C.

Remember !

SI unit of charge is coulombs (C).

Solution :-

As per the given data ,

  • Current drawn = 1.5 A
  • Potential difference = 220 V
  • Time = 1 min = 60 s

We need to find the amount of charge flowing through the electric iron in one minute

We know that ,

The charge flowing through the wire will be 1 coulomb when 1 ampere current flows through it for 1 second .

Hence ,

Q = I t

here ,

  • Q= charge
  • I = current
  • t = time

Now let's substitute the given values in the above equation ,

➜ Q = 1.5 x 60

➜ Q = 80 C

The amount of charge flowing through the electric iron in 1 min is 80 C
