An electric iron of 1100 W is operated for 2 hrs daily. What will be the electrical

consumption expenses for that in the month of April? (The electric company

charges Rs 5 per unit of energy).​

We have given :+ Electric iron is of = 1100W

It is operated daily for = 2hrs.

Now if it is operated daily for 2hrs means

The energy it uses daily = 1100×2

=2200Wh

Since there are 30days in April.

therefore it is used for 30days.

Now the energy it consumes in 30 days =

2200×30

=66,000Wh

Thus the energy it consumes in Month of April is 66,000Wh.

Now to measure the large amount of electric energy in a specified manner we use a unit called kilowatt hour.

1 kilowatt hour = 1000 watt hour

1k W h = 1000 W h

Thus for this iron it consumes

66000 \div 1000

= 66 k W h of energy in the month of April.

Now, it is given that the company charges 5rs /unit.

So the expenses for this iron in months of April will be :-

66kwh × 5

=330rs.

Thus the electrical consumption expenses will be 330rs.
