QUESTION :-

An electric kettle consumes 1 kW of electric power when operated at 220 V. A fuse wire of what rating must be used for it?

a) 1 A

b) 2 A

c) 3 A

d) 5 A

ANSWER :-

Given,

Power = 1 kW ( 1000watt )

Voltage = 220 volt

To Find -

Current =?

We know the formula,

current =  \frac{power}{voltage}

Now,

Current ( I ) = 1000 ÷ 220

Current ( I ) = 4.5 Ampere

After rounding off of 4.5 we get,

Current ( I ) = 5 Ampere

Hence, Option ( D) is correct one.

Definition of current -

The charge flowing per second in an electric circuit is called current.
